EURO PAPER TALK

  • Juventus are desperate to add physicality to their midfield and are looking to the Premier League with this in mind. Chelsea's Nemanja Matic and Liverpool's Emre Can are both targets for the Italian champions, though Paris Saint-Germain's Blaise Matuidi could also be under consideration. (Corriere dello Sport)

  • Real Madrid star, Gareth Bale, has been linked to Manchester United in recent weeks. However, the Welshman has openly stated that he expects to remain in the Spanish capital, saying: "I signed a long contract…and I am happy [at] this club." (Marca)

  • Arsenal transfer target Riyad Mahrez could instead be on his way to Italy. The Leicester City winger, who had an underwhelming 2016/17 campaign, is seen as one of Roma's priority targets for this summer, the Italian side's first transfer window with Monchi as director of football. MORE AGUERO INFO

After missing out on Romelu Lukaku, Chelsea have turned their attention to Sergio Aguero.

However, we understand it will be very difficult for Chelsea to sign Aguero.

Since they were bought by the Abu Dhabi United Group in 2008, City have never sold a player they don’t want to sell.

When asked if Aguero was staying, Khaldoon Al Mubarak said: “Absolutely. There’s never been a doubt about that. I’ve read a lot of the speculation on this and it’s ridiculous.

“Sergio Aguero is one of the best players in the world. We are a team that aspires to win every competition we compete in.

“Having Sergio Aguero as part of the squad is an absolute must. It has never been in doubt.”

BREAKING NEWS
Chelsea have “serious and strong interest” in signing Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, according to Sky sources.
Chelsea will sign a striker this summer to replace Diego Costa, who has been told he is not in Antonio Conte’s plans for next season.

NICE TO MICHU

Former Swansea striker Michu has retired from football aged 31 due to ongoing injury problems.

The Spaniard scored 22 goals for the Swans but never hit those heights after leaving England.

He spent spells with Celta Vigo, Rayo Vallecano and Napoli, but injury problems restricted his progress.

BAYERN END ALEXIS INTEREST

Bayern Munich boss Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed they have dropped their interest in signing Arsenal striker Alexis Sanchez for next season.

After head coach Carlo Ancelotti last week had his wish granted to sign Colombia's James Rodriguez on loan from Real Madrid, Bayern have called off their bid to poach Chile's hot-shot Sanchez from Arsenal.

BREAKING NEWS

Former England and Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson has announced his retirement.

COLE OPEN TO MOVE

Ashley Cole would consider a move to Birmingham City, according to Sky sources.

Robbie Keane - who has been playing with Cole at LA Galaxy - is also expected to begin talks with Birmingham this week over a move to the club, Sky Sports News HQ understands, which could persuade Cole to follow him to St Andrew's.

HERNANDEZ A HAMMER?

West Ham are getting closer to signing Javier Hernandez, who wants £140,000 a week.

But they're trying to structure the deal so his weekly wage is lower but he gets more in bonuses and appearance fees.

Hernandez has got a £13million release clause in his contract at Bayer Leverkusen.

BREAKING NEWS

Manchester United are making progress with a deal to sign Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan.

Inter are in advanced talks to sign a replacement for Perisic – Keita Balde from Lazio.

Perisic was given permission to leave Inter’s training camp in the Alps on Saturday to return to Croatia to see a “trusted dentist” because of a “tooth abcess”.

Inter have been holding out for £48 million for the 28-year-old winger.

Chelsea want to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after missing out on Romelu Lukaku, according to Sky sources.

The Blues are intent on signing a world-class striker this summer, with Diego Costa also set to leave Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte likes Aubameyang and the 28-year-old is on his shortlist with Alvaro Morata of Real Madrid, Torino's Andrea Belotti and another current Premier League striker.

Dortmund will let Aubameyang go this summer for about £70m and he has told the club he wants to leave, with both AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain already holding talks to sign him, and a move to Tianjin Quanjian collapsed last week.

Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke says they have not received any offers yet and warned interested clubs that they are running out of time.

"We will wait a few more days but not long anymore," he said. "I would personally prefer if he stays, but there are a few clubs on this planet where he can obviously earn more."

Dortmund want Aubameyang's future to be sorted out by July 24 when they leave for a training camp in Switzerland.

Aubameyang was the top-scorer in the Bundesliga last season with 31 goals in 32 games. He scored 40 times in all competitions.
